The Four Lakes Traditional Music Collective is excited to announce the unveiling of the Four Lakes Forest Mead, a custom mead created for the 16th annual Sugar Maple Music Festival by Colleen Bos of Bos Meadery.
This 12% ABV botanical mead is infused with juniper, spruce tips and rose petals. Like a stroll through a lush northern forest, the Four Lakes Forest mead is light, crisp and refreshing; reminiscent of a fine gin.
At its most basic, mead is simply fermented water and honey, typically about the strength of wine (11-14% ABV.) Bos Mead is Field to Glass drinking that reflects the flavor of the surrounding landscape. It is a celebration of our Wisconsin flora in drinkable form.
Cheers!

A benefit concert featuring Spare Time Bluegrass Band, David Landau – Children’s Entertainer and The Bearded Hams in Tyranena‘s newly expanded, outdoor Beer Garden.
How is this a benefit? Well, Tyranena is donating $2 from every pint served to the Sugar Maple Music Festival… so grab yourself a glass and support great music! (And great beer, of course.)
Live music beginning at 1 pm with The Rodeo Wagon also on hand serving up southern comfort food such as corn on the cob, Triple Cheesy Mac, and big beef sandwiches!
Cathy Dethmers and her creation, the High Noon Saloon, have been instrumental in supporting the growth and depth of Madison’s music scene. Her support of diverse genres of traveling musicians has brought acts from the Carolina Chocolate Drops to the Okee Dokee Brothers to BR-549 to the North Mississippi Allstars to Madison audiences. These and so many other musicians might have passed right by us without Cathy and this eclectic, friendly, music venue.
Cathy also has promoted the local music scene with happy hour, patio shows and many other events featuring all local musicians. She knows how important community support is, and was always open to working with a local band or nonprofit to provide the space for a fundraiser or other event.
Cathy’s influence goes beyond the High Noon to the civility and calm she added to the often-hectic club and promoter scene. While we know the High Noon is in good hands with Frank Productions, her continued insight and participation in this music community are requested – and appreciated. We hope her family is willing to share her with us, as it would not be the Madison Music Scene without Cathy adding her voice.
Many thanks Cathy, best of luck on your next endeavor.

Fraulini Guitars
Fraulini Guitars are built by Todd Cambio in Madison, Wisconsin. Todd’s guitars follow the construction details, cosmetic appointments and tonal qualities of guitars built in the 1920s and 1930s. Construction methods include dovetail neck joints, varnish finishes, handmade wood purfling and hot hide glue.
Linus Guitars
Linus Guitars are built by Brian Bauhs, known in Madison for being the lead guitarist of Marques Bovre and the Evil Twins. Brian also worked at Spruce Tree Music doing instrument repair work. He now lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he has become increasingly involved in building guitars (as well as the occasional ukulele).
Diamond Bottlenecks
Made in England of hand-blown leaded glass, Diamond’s Ultimate slides are fun to look at and produce a clean tone with plenty of punch when you want it. No two bottlenecks are identical. $35
Rickard Banjos
Rickard Banjos are built in Aurora, Ontario. Bill Rickard is a long-time banjo enthusiast with an engineer’s understanding of metalwork. Consequently, his finely crafted banjos are built with high-grade hardware that is entirely manufactured in-house (tuning machines being the small exception). The wood components are built with the same diligent attention. These instruments are part of a renaissance in open back banjos. They’re solidly made, built with an eye toward seeing (and hearing) them played throughout the next 100 years.
